Officers found 27 dachshunds on the property. The dogs were suffering from malnourishment and dental disease, the nonprofit said. Many had large clumps of matted fur and overgrown nails, which can make it hard for the animals to walk. Some of the dogs also had eye infections.
One dog also was found dead at the property.
he animals were taken to Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh’s East Side domestic shelter, where they were evaluated by medical and animal care teams and given needed care and treatment.
Humane Animal Rescue encouraged people who suspect an animal is in harm to reach out to them at 412-345-7300 or call their local police department.
The nonprofit is accepting donations to help care for the dachshunds and other animals.
